Frequently asked questions about ClinicalEvidence

Straight answers about where our evidence comes from, how every citation is checked, how billing works and how teams use ClinicalEvidence in professional work.

Evidence and sources

Which sources does ClinicalEvidence search?

ClinicalEvidence answers from its own index of registered trials and published studies: ClinicalTrials.gov, PubMed, the PubMed Central open access subset, the EU Clinical Trials Register (EudraCT and CTIS records) and the WHO ICTRP where licences allow. The Sources searched panel under every answer lists only the sources that were actually searched for that question. See how the search works for the full flow.

How fresh is the data?

The index is refreshed daily from the registries and from PubMed. New trial registrations, status changes, posted results and new publications appear in answers after the next refresh, and alerts on saved questions tell you when something new matches.

Does ClinicalEvidence answer from general model knowledge?

No. Answers are built only from passages retrieved from our index. The language model writes the answer from those passages and never from its own memory, so every statement can be traced back to a trial record or a paper.

What happens when there is no evidence for my question?

ClinicalEvidence says so plainly. If the index holds no trial or study that addresses the question, you see that no verified evidence was found, together with the sources that were searched, instead of a confident guess.

Does ClinicalEvidence include unpublished or ongoing trials?

Yes, as far as they are registered. Registry records cover recruiting, active, completed and terminated studies, including trials that have not published a paper. The trial table shows status, enrolment, dates and whether results are posted for each study.

Accuracy and verification

Does ClinicalEvidence make up studies or citations?

Every sentence carries an NCT number or PMID, and automatic citation verification checks that each ID exists in our index and that the cited passage supports the sentence. A sentence that fails the check is removed, and an answer without verified sources is not shown. Read more about cited answers.

Should I still read the cited sources?

Yes. Verification confirms that the source exists and supports the sentence, but a summary can still miss nuance, such as subgroup limits, safety signals or how an endpoint was defined. Open the linked record before you quote it, present it or act on it.

How are levels of evidence shown?

Evidence summaries label each source with its level of evidence, from case reports and observational studies to randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Our guide to levels of evidence explains the hierarchy we use.

Can I compare two treatments directly?

Yes. Compare interventions puts 2 to 4 interventions side by side across the trials that test them, with populations, endpoints and status. A comparison counts as 5 cited answers because it reads and verifies many more studies.

Plans and billing

Can I use ClinicalEvidence without a subscription?

Every visitor gets one demo question on the homepage with a real cited answer and the first three matching studies. There is no plan at zero cost. After the demo, ClinicalEvidence is a paid subscription for professionals, starting with Clinician at 49 USD per month or 24 USD per month billed yearly.

How does yearly billing work?

Yearly billing costs half of the monthly price, paid once for twelve months: 288 USD for Clinician, 1 188 USD for Research Team, 2 988 USD for Organization and 8 940 USD for Enterprise. All plans and limits are on the pricing page.

How are cited answers counted?

One cited answer is one question in the evidence chat. An evidence summary or an intervention comparison counts as 5. Usage is counted as consumption in each billing period, so deleting a thread does not give answers back, and your allowance resets at the start of the next period.

What happens when I upgrade or downgrade?

Moving to a higher plan, or from monthly to yearly billing, takes effect right away and you pay the difference immediately. Moving to a lower plan takes effect at the start of your next billing period.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can turn off renewal at any time in your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no further charges are made.

Do you offer refunds?

Payments are final. The only exceptions are a duplicate charge, a proven unauthorised charge and a complete failure of the service, as described in our refund policy. Cancelling stops future renewals and does not refund the current period.

Teams and security

Can my team share answers and threads?

Yes. Research Team, Organization and Enterprise include shared workspaces, saved threads, comments and roles, with cited answers pooled across seats. Organization adds an audit log and invoicing, and Enterprise adds single sign-on (SAML) and priority support with a named contact.

Can I export to my reference manager?

Yes. Every plan exports CSV, RIS and BibTeX, so citations go straight into common reference managers. Research Team and higher also export XLSX and DOCX with a reference list. Details are on the export page.

Is my workspace content used to train models?

No. Your questions and threads stay in your workspace. The language model provider processes question text only to produce your answer, under a data processing agreement, and does not use it to train public models. More on the security page.

Do I need to enter patient data?

No, and you must not. ClinicalEvidence works on published and registered evidence, so questions are about conditions, interventions and populations, never about an identifiable patient. Keep names, record numbers, dates of birth and similar identifiers out of every question.

Professional use

Who is ClinicalEvidence for?

ClinicalEvidence is built for physicians, clinical pharmacists, researchers, medical affairs, clinical development and CRO feasibility teams, and HEOR and regulatory consultants who need cited answers from trial and study data.

Can patients use ClinicalEvidence?

ClinicalEvidence is not designed for patients or for emergencies. Anyone with a health concern should speak to a qualified clinician, and in an emergency contact local emergency services.
